How the Bavarian flower store Chez Anna delights customers with an SCO system.

Flowers speak a language that is understood worldwide. And not just on Valentine's Day. Roses, tulips or tied bouquets are therefore the perfect gift for anyone who wants to make their partner, family or simply themselves happy. But tying the bouquets, advising customers and cashing up takes time. Master florist Anna Ferchl-Bergmann was therefore looking for a solution to make the processes in her pop-up store more flexible. Today, she uses the LocaFox self-checkout system (SCO) and her business is literally flourishing. We made our way to Bavaria and spoke to the owner about her store, the self-checkout and her plans for the future.

All is still right with the world in Peißenberg. The municipality in the foothills of the Bavarian Alps combines idyllic landscapes with a rustic atmosphere and is just a few kilometers from Lake Starnberg. At the end of a long drive, we enjoy the charm of the area and spontaneously feel like having a veal sausage or a proper snack. But before we set off in search of a pub, we want to visit Anna Ferchl-Bergmann and her flower store "Chez Anna". The florist has opened a pop-up store in Peißenberg, which features one of the first self-checkout tills in the region.

 

Pop-up store with certain extras

Unlike conventional stores, pop-up stores are opened for a few weeks or months. The operation is therefore limited in time from the outset. The concept allows business ideas to be tested, vacancies to be used or customers to be made aware of a special offer. "For me, the model is ideal for attracting lots of customers in a relatively short space of time," explains Anna. "I can try out my own ideas, gain valuable experience for the future and am not tied to a specific location in the long term."

 

Concept inspires customers

Although she is only opening the store for just under a month, the store space is furnished with great attention to detail. We also feel right at home and discover a huge variety of colorful flowers, bouquets and arrangements that Anna offers in her pop-up store. In addition to us, numerous other customers have already become aware of the pop-up store, as word of the innovative concept is spreading quickly, especially in rural Peißenberg. The question remains: how can Anna serve and advise all these customers?

 

Self-checkout system for more time and flexibility

"I qualified as a master florist in 2014 and worked in my parents' flower store for ten years before that," says Anna. "Even back then, I brought in new ideas and also familiarized myself with modern cash register systems systems." It quickly became clear that her own store should have a self-checkout system. Because this combines many advantages in one solution, as the example of "Chez Anna" shows:

  • Customers can scan and pay for the desired goods independently at the SCO terminal. The process is simple and intuitive.
  • As the store owner does not have to collect the goods herself, she has more time for actual customer advice.
  • The SCO checkout is also visually appealing and takes up very little space. Anna therefore has more free space on which to display her goods.
  • The system has a direct connection to the LocaFox back office.
  • Payment can be made by cardNFC or optionally in cash with the cash management system. 

 

So it's no wonder that self-checkout tills like the LocaFox system are not only used in floristry, but also in farm shops. farm shops and many other stores are used successfully.

 

SCO cash registers: Concentration on the core business

"Many customers want personal advice," explains Anna. "And good advice takes time. Thanks to the SCO system, I can finally take that time." What's more: "In the store, my customers can find ready-made bouquets and arrangements that I have lovingly tied by hand. They don't have to be laboriously prepared while the customer waits in the store. This also saves everyone involved a lot of time and the quality of the goods is also higher." Anna can now accept larger orders in particular - for a wedding, a milestone birthday or a company event, for example - on time and yet in a comparatively relaxed manner.

 

Flowery words for the LocaFox system

Of course, we would like to know why Anna chose the SCO system from LocaFox. "Through my professional experience in floristry, I know many POS manufacturers," says Anna. "LocaFox convinced me because it is a young, innovative brand that understands my business and my specific requirements." Another argument: "Most other systems have a minimum contract term of several years. However, my pop-up store is only open for a few weeks and LocaFox is simply much more flexible and the advice from the team was also extremely helpful." Customer feedback confirms that Anna made the right decision in choosing LocaFox. "Customers understand the system at first glance and were immediately enthusiastic about it," says Anna.

 

An SCO system with a future

At the end of our visit, we want to find out what plans Anna has for the future. Here, too, she already has very specific ideas. "The pop-up store was a first test balloon for me. As the concept was so well received, I will be opening it again next year and will of course be using the LocaFox SCO checkout again. Never change a running system!"
