In Germany, there are very different cash register systems, which are mainly used in the retail sector. This is because, in addition to supermarkets, florists and booksellers, clothing stores or furniture stores and steam stores are also required to maintain proper cash register s. However, so far there is no obligation to use a specific cash register system. For the documentation of in-store sales, you therefore have a free choice between:
However, your POS system must comply with certain regulations. One of these regulations is the Technical Security Device for POS Systems (TSE).

The German Cash Register Security Ordinance (KassenSichV) came into force on January 1, 2020. Among other things, it stipulates that all electronic cash register systems must be equipped with a technical security device (TSE). This is intended to prevent any subsequent manipulation of the cash register data. In most German states, stores had to upgrade their electronic cash registers accordingly by March 31, 2021. For certain cash register systems, there is a transition period until the end of 2022, by which time at the latest your cash register must be TSE-compliant. If this is not the case, you could face fines of up to 25,000 euros. By the way: Digital POS systems such as those offered by LocaFox for the retail sector are, of course, already TSE-compliant and meet all legal requirements. But digital POS systems also offer a lot of advantages beyond that.
Digitization is changing the way we all live and work. The retail sector is no exception. Digital technologies are not an end in themselves, but are intended to ensure greater efficiency and transparency. Digital checkout systems are an excellent example of this.
So digital POS systems are always valuable when you need to focus on your core business. It's no wonder, then, that store owners who are just setting up their business in particular rely on digital checkouts. This also pays off later - in the truest sense of the word.

As so often in life, the answer is: "It depends". In principle, you are always allowed to use two different POS systems in parallel if they are used for a spatially clearly definable area or if there is no other option for technical reasons. Whether this is the case must of course be clarified in each individual case. In most cases, it does not make sense, as it will cause you more work and inconvenience .
